yea, it’s just of particular relevance to me because we were retrofitting developer environments into k8s and this was a persistent failure mode for us. that & the OOM killer honestly
If you dont hit oom and if kubelet evicts the pod earlier:
soft eviction thresholds respect pod’s termination grace period (but cap it to a value provided in kubelet config), hard eviction thresholds kill the pod immediately.
If you hit oom, I suspect the os kills you, in any case pid1 must die?
