Jenrick is as popular as cold sick. Not that I’d vote Tory anyway, but Cleverly is by far the most electable choice. He has the personality to outshine both Farage and Starmer.
Not sure about personality, but personability, yes. I really think the “broad church” strategy in the two main parties doesn’t work anymore, as Labour are finding. Just find something you believe in and stick to it, rather than try to be all things to all men.
It’s the “Who would you rather go to the pub with?” test.
Unfortunately, Starmer doesn’t make that list either. Not that we need a comedian but someone who comes across as your mate, who’s on your side and who’s going to fix it for you.
But how broad *is* Labour’s church right now? They have jettisoned the socialists, and are now busy jettisoning what few liberal and green policies they had. What remains? Some social conservative managerial social democrats? It’s hard to say…
Won’t make a blind bit of difference. The problems are Johnson/ Truss and consequences of hollowing out public services. Tories need to work out what they stand for - ideally something Heseltine-esque - not aping Farage
I don't think Jenrick needs asking. He's been making that bid constantly since October. So... the senior Tories want to merge with Farage and be the minor partner...?
"Go on, do it, do it" - prayed this when they were voting for Badenoch. Achieved precisely what I had hoped. After further blood letting, hope they elect 'Honest Bob'. That should do for them. So, "go on, do it, do it"!!!

I understand why the likes of Mick Lynch, who would’ve been brilliant, kept out of it.
They’re finished anyway. Down to a hard core who vote Tory because of a lifetime’s habit.
Starmer’s on course to do the same with Labour. No doubt an adept manager all over the detail - a stark change vrs Johnson, Truss etc.
But his political decision making is woeful. The clock is ticking.
