I once was being a bit of an an ass to one of my co workers because they pissed me off and my manager went to them to excuse my actions since I was on the spectrum which just boiled my blood. I understand she was trying to protect me because she liked me but like just no that's not how it works.

I'm autistic (and have ADHD) and the worst it causes is making it very hard for me to get my point across in a way that people understand. They usually say "No, you're wrong" and then repeat exactly what I was just telling them.

I do have the occasional issue where I get so stressed I sort of "black out", soret of lose awareness, and in that time period break something I own as a stress relief. Have never hurt anyone else or broken anything that isn't mine, and I'm pretty good at getting away from stress sources before then

No idea what causes that, though I do know mediciation I was incorrectly given for OCD (which I don't have) prevented the breaking portion of that, and instead I would just reach a point where I completely pass out from too much stress.

I don't believe I have autism, but I know plenty who do and have taught even more.

While some of them have used it as an excuse for some "bad" behaviour, IE talking over me in class, talking very loudly, etc, none of them ever did an effing nazi salute in my class no matter how excited they got.

It always hurt. I didn't really know why, but having powerful people excuse their bad behavior with autism always hurt.

It was only two years ago that I got diagnosed myself, and realized "Oh. So they're using ME as an excuse." And the pain began to make sense, and made me so angry.

Look, I'm neurodivergent too (and currently figuring out in exactly what ways), but that doesn't excuse me if I hurt others, even if it explains it. It's called accountability. It's essential in a functional society, and in one's personal growth as a person.
