Perhaps do a little research on what happens to an elephant before tourists can safely approach it. Apologies but I will unfollow you for this one. Appreciate though you did not mean to harm it.
You can do whatever you like. This was 20 years ago, before social media existed and I had the education I have now. I wouldn't go do it again now that I know more, but I went to a place my Thai-American (Thai but migrated to the US for 30 years, then returned) recommended as ethical, which was all
I knew in terms of good recommendations at the time. I trusted him. I have a better understanding of the experiences with animals I had since then, but at 20, I knew I was being taken somewhere I was told was ethical by someone I trusted.
Weird to announce an unfollow tho, ur welcome to leave 🤗
I love this photo.
By the way, you have a perfect feeling about what to describe and how in the alt text. Very well put, and a good example for how it should be done in general.
👍
Thank you for this feedback! I tried to give enough detail to really understand what is most important to convey about the photo, so it's good to know it's going pretty well
The hardest to convey are memes, I attempt to describe both the visual and the implied meaning, harder to catch without sight
Elephants are good for us and every time I’ve looked into an Elephants eyes, it’s like they are peering into my soul. They seem to show me compassion for only being human!
Reminds me of a visit to the San Diego Wildlife Park as a kid and they have me pet a porcupine - damned near shit myself when it finished its snack! Great experience though.
Once I was visiting a lonely elephant in Texas and someone mentioned it was the elephants birthday so we sang happy birthday to the elephant and it was waving it's trunk in the air as we sang like a conductor.
I see so much joy in this. Thanks for sharing. I know times can be rough, but somehow there’s always hope in tomorrow and a chance to use an overworked pun. So may I just say - thats’s bananas.
One of our daughters was a zoo docent when she was in high school. She had an elephant slobber on her sneakers once. When she got home, our cat was like, "What's that on your shoes? Smells so good! Wanna eat that critter ALL up!" He was lucky we couldn't explain things to him.

Very happy you have that memory, @cooperstreaming.bsky.social. I hope there are many more in there.
