These “native advertisements” mimic real news, making it hard to spot the difference 👀. Participants exposed to the ad were more likely to believe its environmental claims, showing even a single exposure can shape beliefs. But disclosures and inoculations helped to mitigate the influence. 2/6

🔍 We found that disclosure messages help readers recognize these ads as paid content, but not that they may be misleading. Moreover, even with disclosures, half of participants did not realize they were reading an #ad. 3/6

🛡️ Inoculation messages, on the other hand, prepare readers to resist misleading claims, protecting their existing beliefs on climate change. Inoculation messages reduced belief in misleading ad claims, but not belief in unrelated true claims about climate change. 4/6
