My friend from Santa Fe loves to welcome Southern friends with a tube of lip balm and a selection of moisturizers. And she loves how her skin looks when she visits my humid home.
Oh lord, I remember going to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM in 1977. We got off the bus & within 5 minutes were thirsting to death. We formed a line at a water fountain, would drink our fill, then go to the back of the line. When we got back to the fountain, we were thirsting to death again.
It took us a couple of days to adjust to the dry conditions there. Of course us Alabama boys were used to being able to wring a canteen full of water out of the air because it's that humid here in the summer.
I actually didn’t mind hanging laundry there. You put it all on the line and then go back to where you started and start folding it up because it’s dry already!
Such a beautiful state in some select places...but so poor as well...no sustainable economy going on there...the tourism isn't near enuf to keep it out of poverty. Bad health care and bad pub ed. It's such a shame! 😢
Right now, the relative humidity in my house is 20% and that's with a humidifier running. When I came back from a recent trip (humidifier turned off) the humidity in my house was 5%. Crazy dry here at times.
