My understanding of them was that they were pretty much made for electricians.

We were not permitted ANY metal hand jewelry at any time as controls technicians. Any conductive material was verboten.

They're also good for personnel whose hands need to work in tight spaces

I am gay and married. I am not super pedantic about it. However, I have to travel for work often and have done mechanical jobs in places where regulations prevent me from wearing metal rings. It's a reminder for myself when I can't be home, that I am loved.

And I appreciate the different perspectives. These things mean different things to different people. I rarely wear my wedding ring outside of social situations when people would question why I’m not, in order to avoid having to explain all that to them. But everyone’s built different.

I mean that is basically the point of wedding rings in general is showing off that you're married. They're a much cheaper alternative to a typical wedding band and you don't have to worry about snagging your ring on something or losing your ring after taking it off

(Very much queer here) I mean, it’s a personal thing too? My actual wedding band means a ton to me, but if I’m traveling and I don’t want to lose it, I’ve got a less “valuable” band I wear. It’s a physical reminder that I’m loved, and as someone with depression, I kinda need that sometimes.

Don't worry. I didn't take it as such ;). Just sharing my opinion and having a conversation to foster understanding. I was also the weird kid that liked to collect craft pipe cleaners and had attachments to them like some Linus (from Peanuts) had to his blanket.

Yeah, it’s about recognizing when it becomes detrimental instead of supplemental. Having a toy or other object that gives you comfort it totally cool! Having 20 and being unable to travel without them to where you’re actively feeling impeded more than helped, might mean taking the time to reevaluate
