Someone asked why I don't draw m/f couples and don't I want female representation as a woman, and the answer is NO, as a woman I want to see men sucking and men fucking

I think this is such an improper question to ask ANY artist. I mean, artists draw what they want and what they feel like drawing. Especially when they have the rare time to draw personal work. Period.
I think the ok way to put it would be not "Why don't you draw X instead of Y" or "Why you only draw X, and not try some Y?", but instead "What made you choose to draw X? What inspires you about it?"
Yea that makes sense. I remember reading a really interesting piece by Simon Stalenhagg about why so much of his stuff is inspired by the nostalgic 80s stuff instead of more traditional scifi. Was a cool window into his methods.
Some people ask me why I, a gay transmasc, only work with Achillean stories as a book cover artist and character designer.
Why won't a do m/f queer or not?
My answer is simple. Because I don't want to. I only do what I'm best at.
But tbh, I should be forced to answer those questions at all.
Real. 👏 The female gaze isn’t linear. It’s also wild to me there is a world full of m/f couple art from very talented nsfw artists and they still have to come on your territory and gripe. 😒😒😒 Ridiculous and rude.
everytime I see someone coming onto anyone else's content and daring to ask that question I throw back at them with the "make it yourself" or "find someone else who makes it", we as artists want to make what we love and wanna see, there are many more out there with what you want otherwise
So real. My struggle is "I'd like more female representation, but if I drew the women who would make me feel represented, I'd run the nonzero risk of being hassled and punished for my vulnerability and honesty by folks who mod makeup onto Aloy, so I'll stick with the guys I want to see."
I sometimes get asked why I don't draw male-presenting characters, and I just don't wanna! Maybe it's me wrestling with being an enby, but like I'd rather explore other things. So I say get it! Draw whatever you want! 💅🏽
people really don't get that it's the person behind the art that matters. I think a lot
of it is them liking our art and getting mad that we don't create what they want to see and they just handle it *like a child*
💯 - I can feel that sometimes there is an expectation of what the commenter has, which is really funny since I'm sharing my perspective for fun and for free. 💋
Also if we’re talking about representation, I’m pretty sure if anyone wants m/f representation they can turn on any movie, tv show, read any book, or simply walk outside
Me remembering when everyone argued over the amount of mlm bg3 fics being higher than wlw fics and failed to acknowledge that m/f had more than double m/m and f/f had combined. Representation isn’t just a numbers game but if you wanna make it one……………..
Honestly at this point I am in my 30s and I went through Harry Potter fandom, I understand why m/m is so popular and I simply want to be left alone with my blorbos. Much better to yell at executives to put more queer rep of all sorts into everything rather than artists and writers online.
theyre totally giving “Yass queen, bomb the middle east” thats my president feminism logic lmao representation isn’t an inherently good thing, and feminism is about toppling real life power structures not whatever the fuck this is.
Considering how much hetero smut is not about representing women as real people but rather objectifying us as part of a patriarchal fantasy for consumption by an audience of cishet men, I'm not sure this person has any fucking idea what they're talking about.
To further explain my perspective on this:
I'm enby and asexual and I personally don't want sex ...
but sexy time between to FICTIONAL guys feels *safe* for me, so I enjoy it.
I don't need to have enby ace characters in everything I create. Of my own OC, my fave is a cis homosexual twink guy.
I love what you create ! I'm incredibly happy that you are filling in this one small niche and I adore Clover and I adORE how you draw Halsin (and I can't even gush enough about your environmental art and background art)
At this point, people should be adult enough to curate their own experience in social media/internet. Without bitching at the content creator and trying to hold them to a puritanical standard.
I don’t understand this mentality. Just because I’m female that doesn’t mean MF appeals to me. Just because I’m pan doesn’t mean FF appeals to me in fiction. Let me have my boys. They make me happy

WE ALL DO
There's some great answers to "why do you like drawing X" out there.

No, motherfucker, I want eye candy for myself, plain and simple as that. Keep the gender equality politics outta’ this. 😤
If dudes can ogle f/f content 24/7 then gals can do the same with m/m content. There’s your equality.
Seriously, if they want it that badly in your art style they can PAY YOU, ffs. If your commissions are open, that is.
I’ve got a big bi pride flag I’ve been wanting to embroider with something and this post might be it
flattering about my environments, I'm trying to improve them!
(I love all u draw, never stop)
"Why do you only draw lesbians and almost no m/m or m/f? Isn't it fetishistic?" No, I want to see lesbians!
I think it's just because we're women, men don't get the same kind of annoying flack we do.
People are so fucking rude, I stg
I want payback.
