There is no such thing as ‘cheap food’. There is always a payback. Cruelty to animals, bad employment practices and contamination of the land & food stuffs are a few of them. I’d trust food from the US even less now that their governmental handbook has been torn up.

Trade deals mustn't allow imports that undercut UK animal welfare standards - such as chicken washed in chlorine or other disinfectants to mask unhygienic conditions.
