they first put my pain pump in, they added morphine it did not help so they raised it and raised it and raised it until I was at the point where every time it would go off I would puke all over myself. It still took them over a week to reduce it and three more months to change it to something else

If you were on it for a year and a half, turning it down over 11 days sounds dangerously fast to me. Pain management is not my specialty, but I do have some experience with it, and that sounds risky.

Sorry, misunderstanding. they didn’t turn it down for 11 days. I was sick constantly for 11 days. Then over three months they reduced it until they changed it to Dilaudid. I had about five months of decent, I would say relief, but now even that doesn’t help. and I’ve been on Dilaudid for 6 years.

Turning it down over 90 days sounds much more appropriate. Unfortunately, the opioids are notorious for developing tolerance. Overtime, you need more and more drug to get the same relief until you reach a point at which it becomes unsafe. perhaps it’s time to think about changing to a different drug

as I have, over 20 years, I’ve seen 11 doctors. Because they would literally get frustrated at me and start screaming at me. I am crippled. I am bedridden. I piss myself. The only reason why I’m still with the doctor that I am with right now is because he doesn’t try to turn me into a damn zombie.

Well, that’s unprofessional of them. I have gently suggested that I am out of options and ideas, and recommended that a patient seek care from someone new, but I’ve never screamed at a patient (except the one who called me a kike and the one who called me a faggot, but I think those were justified).

that’s awful!! I have never gotten angry with my doctors and nobody should you’re trying to learn just like everybody, but yes, some should not have a degree. They did not treat me well. Even the doctor I’m seeing recommended I go to the Cleveland pain center after he made a mistake and poisoned me

My residency program director taught me a very long time ago that you will never think of a diagnosis of which you have never heard. Sometimes, if things are rare enough, or treatment becomes complex enough, you may need to seek out that one expert in the region or the country to get good treatment.

Absolutely, mistakes can and do happen. Doctors are human and operate within the limits of their knowledge base. If that knowledge base is too small for the job they are trying to do, that is malpractice.

The doctor I have I believe he is trying to do his best, but they keep trying to get me to have nerve blocks, which I’ve had 24 of ,constantly try to medicate me with things that have not helped. traveling is not easy for me. After about 15 minutes, depending on the road I will lose consciousness.

The other thought I will share with you is this cliché: when your only tool is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Maybe you need to find somebody who is doing research in this area and get signed up for a clinical trial to try something truly new.

If you’ve had 24 nerve blocks without persistent relief, I would call that a treatment failure. I’ve had it done myself, but I had good relief for over a year. Definitely sounds like time to try something new.
