Yes!💕 it's a shame I had to cut it out due to the 1 minute restriction, but Senryu is often about people/society, and often incorporates humor/irony!

However unlike for Haiku, senryuu is more free, and this is more a "convention" than a traditionally established rule, so I decided to leave it out 🥲

I don’t think anyone here was saying don’t follow parameters when appropriate. I don’t know that anyone regularly writing and reading haiku really does not know about the season word, history, or problems with the rhythm when created in English.

I think enlightenment is rare, makes Haiku special.

Also, Saijiki are more than 4 words long... So, be careful calling out people on their creative choices.

I respect what Haiku is in its traditional form, I am by no means an expert, but I have done some due diligence to learn what it is. In my limited contemporary and american understanding of the art form, I gave up on trying to make traditional Haiku, because there is no way in my language "I" can.

This is awesome! I think what you're talking about is the meaning or significance we put in the form, which is great!

What I'm talking about is much more boring, namely what it is. It's a form that came from 連歌 which was a collaborative form, almost like a game, and each 句 (stanza) became a haiku.

Many Contemporary Haiku authors know the history, we have even reproduced it over the internet at times, making long chains of Haiku conversations was popular at one time, it has given way to prompts now.

すみませんがこの点に関しては日本語の方が表現しやすいので、日本語でお返事させて頂きます。特に「My definition」と「it has given way」に関して：先ほどの返事をご覧になって頂いたか存じませんが、アメリカのSushiと江戸前寿司が別々のものとして栄えるのは多いいに結構だと思いますが江戸前寿司の伝統がアメリカのSushiに「Give way」するとは言いませんよね？同じように世界中の方々が川柳からインスピレーションを受け、各自の言語で色々お書きになるのは素晴らしいと思いますが「俳句」は歴史的、文化的に特殊なものなので、その伝統を踏みつぶすような言い方はどうなのでしょうか？

It was also established during that time that it needed seasonal relevance, and that which didn't was categorized separately, thus we have 川柳. This is simply the history that defines what a 俳句 is.

I think if people want to take it and make something new that's great! If people want to add meaning and significance to it that resonates with them personally, awesome! But it shouldn't need to be at the expense of denying what it really is historically if you know what I mean? ^_^

To be honest I really debated even making this, it really is a cringe ass "um actually" ☝️🤓
But I think it wouldn't hurt people to know a lil bit about what haikus actually are supposed to be. There's obviously more like about things like renga, chouka, kireji etc but... I think its a start!
