Why is it that there appears to be endless dislike for AI on Bluesky, whereas AI topics on Twitter get much more even-handed attention?
Every time I mention AI on here, the haters pour in. You just don't see that on Twitter. A genuinely odd disconnect.

There may be an element of “I’m too cool to like something at this point in the hype cycle.”
I still get looks when I admit liking Titanic.
If you're a builder then the flaws of AI look fixable or work-around-able.
If you're a consumer then the AI slop and IP issues will dominate.

Even before AI, the digital divide was real. AI will further help those with the means and skills, and will hurt those without.
I'm far from a doomer btw. I'm well aware of the +ves.
I think tech-scepticism is healthy and causes no harm, even if it sometimes creates blind spots. But blind allegiance to tech can be harmful.
I've been using it to supplement coding and it's truly mind blowing.
Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater, would be my advice
Security, data privacy and data mining issues are a significant constraint and concern also.
I use it a lot but the problem for many of us is that, at this precise moment, it's creating more potential problems than it's solving.
But even if we accept the premise - which I do not - that doesn't take anything away from the fact that AI is shaping to be an enormous force for disruption in the very near future.
To just hand-wave that away out of distaste seems utterly absurd...
I guess it’s also out of fear for their livelihoods.
AI needs to be validated in a way that is normal scientific practice- my experience of chatGTP is that it’s answers are inconsistent. I can also search the internet too.
That said, it is definitely getting better and better.
And there are other things it's much better at than search, such as coding. A lot of software devs are increasing their productivity with AI.
