The real tragedy is that PEOPLE are writing these life-destroying letters. Then going home and sleeping at night.

Which means there's a whole segment of the population that delights in the misery of others.

And they've somehow aggregated at the Home Office like iron filings drawn to a magnet.

A family member who works for a housing department and has to write similar letters definitely finds it hard to sleep at night. The government needs to have the courage to say that (1) immigration is good and necessary and (2) there should be a presumption that children raised in the UK should stay.

There are a lot of jobs out there. No need to stay in a role where you know you're ruining the lives of others.

But there comes a point where you should drop the case file on your boss's desk and say "I'm not filing this one. Our rules are too inflexible. They say we should split the two small children from their parents and eject them from the UK alone."
