If you refuse to support unions, and fellow workers, you are betraying not just them, but yourself as well. The struggle of others is not for them alone, it benefits you, and believing otherwise is a bit of boot-licking foolishness no one should be engaging in. The bosses will never love you back.

Too many of your parents failed to raise you on union lore, and it shows. Start listening to Paul Robeson and cue up Norma Rae - some old stuff to be sure, but the familiarity of the struggle will remind you this shit just keeps cycling.

My immigrant grandfather got his head cracked by Pinkertons in the 1920's. I'd be nowhere without the union movement he & his cohorts created. But I don't forget how racist the AFL/CIO was in 60's, or how construction-union pro-Nixon, pro-war 'hard hat' rioters beat up antiwar protesters. 1/2

My dad was a pipe fitter during Alberta's economic bust in the 80s. The union literally prevented us from starving even when work was sparse and meant he worked away for long periods. The annual Xmas party sent us home with presents and food when there was none at home.
