In all fairness, when she said she didn’t think it was happening to Germans, she meant White people. Also meaning, she was perfectly fine with it happening to brown people…says it all

“We had already noticed a little bit of what was going on in the U.S. But at the time, we didn't think it was happening to Germans.” — HER words.
Now, I’m gonna point out where you dropped the ball. “Until now.” You acknowledge traveling to the US is NOW an issue.
Keep saying this. The press is only reporting when it happens to middle class WPPL because they fully expected it to happen to B&BPPL.. And likely aren’t reporting it..

Country of origin used to play a big part in ease of passage. Apparently no so much now.
Proof of funds and booked return ticket helps but is not a guarantee.
“We had already noticed a little bit of what was going on in the U.S. But at the time, we didn't think it was happening to Germans.”
Clarify this for me… then we’ll do another round.
And "noticed a little bit" means they weren't paying that much attention, and why should they, backpacking 'round the world.
And maybe she was fine with US immigrants being deported, or maybe, like most teenagers, she doesn't pay much attention to the news, so didn't know this was happening to anyone.
White people are not used to being a victim. Time to learn bitches.
Are you unaware that the international news doesn't report this as only Latinos who are illegal immigrants are being deported? It just reports illegal immigrants.
