To be honest, self-aware, and willing to learn—all while being able to maintain your principles and values. Not conceding who you are while negotiating is where we find the balance and where we win, together.
Did you ever read 'The Starfish and the Spider' by Ori Brafman? It talks about movement building and decentralized networks. I pointed to it & the role of a catalyst who inspires the growth of a decentralized network. You're taking that role. https://tutormentorexchange.net/strategy/knowledgenetworking
The last part of the book, about hubs that support networks, is what I've focused on. This is a slide from a "learning network" visual essay that shows connected "hubs". In era of repression we'll need decentralized, connected, libraries. See it at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qKrD1mU3xwdcp5dzcw1k-74v68JdhyFx/view
I used to run a nonprofit and we converted our model to a shared power organizational structure. Worked for a long time and I think it would be much more widely accepted now. Felt very new at the time and we bumped against a lot of pushback esp from funders.
People "support" single payer healthcare. Sure, in the abstract and before it is demagogued within an inch of its life. So we need much more than to "shape public opinion" - we need power.
