I loved being told that voters didn't care about those things I, as a voter, expressly mentioned caring about, such as the child tax credit. Obviously, I'm sane so I voted Dem anyway, but I can see how other voters might have felt alienated by Dems after they gave a lot of that up.

I think that parties SHOULD deliver on things they say they care even if it doesn't lead to immediate political "gains" for the party.

There is only one party that is the democrats. In the last 8 years I can not tell you or find what Republican's are for or do. So if you stand on a soap box and blame Dems for not accomplishing everything on some list then hire the people that don't do anything you can't complain.

yep, agreed, overall i think that article is just venting out pessimism, didn't really lead anywhere. to be clear most of it is arguing _against_ the part quoted in the post.

Yep. I was afraid that Biden had lost reelection when he let Pelosi decouple the infrastructure bill from Build Back Better. I think it was one of his four big mistakes (with Gaza, having no real plan for inflation, and generally letting things revert to the pre-pandemic normal that wasn’t working).
