That's right, inner strength is important, but as humans, we are interconnected beings. We can't deny our need for others, either directly or indirectly. We learn from other's experiences, rely on their support, and build our lives through our relationships and cooperation.
was just talking about how this is a major theme in One Piece (along with many other socialist and revolutionary themes). we all need one another, and are stronger together
Yeah, the whole “you can’t survive without me!” Message has been repeated over and over and over to every member of society. Hell, an entire religion rotates around this message.
Because if you repeat a message long enough, people begin to believe it.
When I was dealing with depression it was the dawning realization of the support of good friends that helped me understand that I was ‘worthy’ and helped pull me out of a very bad place. And medication.
People are the product of hundreds of thousands of years of social evolution and motherfuckers think they can go out and become a tiger in a generation
It's the norm. Most people on assistance think of it as something individually worked for and earned, since it's difficult to meet the requirements and fill out paperwork etc to go on assistance in the first place

I believe that those who profess horror at the intervention of the state for the protection of the weak lay themselves open to the suspicion that they are desirous of using their strength for the benefit of a portion, for the oppression of the rest.
That is what the upper classes of your country have been blinding you to as they think Society was created for their benefit not for the Benefit of all the people of that Society.
At its most basic levels, I:
* Don't know how to grow the food I need with my specific dietary requirements.
* Don't know how to make my medications.
* Don't know how to sew, build wooden things, work metal, or other useful things.
* Rely on a massive infrastructure for water and power.
It’s probably down to that pretty universal fear that we’re completely unlikeable, and that if we had to rely on other people thinking we’re worth saving, we’d struggle.

Because if you repeat a message long enough, people begin to believe it.
But we may need interpersonal assistance and in most cases is needed.
We are by nature like the mycelium roots.
But the self work is still the individuals self responsibility
