I heard that some guy I went to grad school with [who is a rightwing hack] got $10 million from an 'anonymous' donor to do some bullshit. Our side is scrounging for change in the cushions of a loveseat.

I feel like the difference is just not in money given, but in how effective the recipients are. There’s huge sums of money being handed to, for example, legacy repro orgs, which do very little to advance the movement. The right gives their money to people who actually do stuff.
And people are pivoting to supporting the right more in the name of “intellectual diversity” while denying funds to great organisations because of programme cycles.
It’s such a huge problem with no clear solution 😭 Reminds me of before I was organizing and was trying to improve media/journalism. This guy locally had started a website that he hoped would be part of the solution. Eventually he moved to the Valley and sold his adtech startup for $25 million
I have signed up for so many individual newsletters because it's the only way to support political and culture writers that I like, meanwhile every single writing job that isn't being a right wing shill is getting axed all over all types of media.
Just a month ago I came across someone trying to sell stickers of trump saying “I did this”, like the ones that someone paid to have thousands, tens of thousands maybe printed and distributed for free. The billionaires want this and have all the money in the world so we’re truly screwed
The chronic nightmare of humanity is that violence and cruelty pay while altruism and liberation do not. Our culture must be rescripted to reward healthy behaviors and quit serving predators lavishly on silver platters.
