Quite honestly, I don’t care if a “majority of people” think trans people shouldn’t be allowed to play sports.

Supporting trans people is the right thing to do, and I’m going to do that.

What's weird is that Republicans have made mountains out of molehills with the "trans" athlete "issue" -- as well as with many of their other self-created panic attacks. Fewer than 1% of our population is transgender. Far fewer of those do sports, and even fewer do sports at a competitive level.

This is not a fluke -- it's a purposeful Republican propaganda technique. They'll take something that hasn't happened, or that maybe happened a handful of times, talk about it like it's an "epidemic," and then get everyone in a tizzy about it. It's an effective straw man technique.

It's effective because it's easy to look tough against a straw man, even though the reason is because they were never fighting a real thing in the first place. They can also use it to radicalize voters to vote against the straw men, and to keep people distracted while the do whatever they want.

I think the way to fight this is to start pulling back the layers by asking questions. Who is actually doing this? Has this actually happened anywhere, and if so, where and when? If it happened once, with a niche sport in another state, why are they suddenly so concerned about it?

Really, it's weird. Why are people who never followed college swimming and who don't know anyone who competes in it suddenly so worried about one swimmer in Pennsylvania? Or about someone in Arvada, CO selling empanadas? Or about a Nextdoor Post in Ohio? Call out the weirdness. Publicly.

I'd be interested in hearing a majority opinion if it affected the majority. (Hearing not agreeing)
But it really doesn't. Trans people are a minority, and trans people in sports? Such a small goddamn number.
It's tyranny to have an unaffected majority make decisions.

I remember in middle school, I played field hockey, and a rival school had a boy that wanted to play. They made him wear the same damn skirts we had to wear, and he played. He wasn’t good. But no one made a fuss.

Yet that was the only teams we had. Our town was too small to have gendered teams.

Also I'd like to note that our baseball team kicked ass.
