If folks are serious about primary challenges of current Democrats in office, then this needs to start with organization and with money. You need a democratic decision making process where people can weigh in on a group of members to target. Then you need to raise a TON of money.

Northside DFA (Chicago) was able to exercise some influence, empower members, groom candidate and build community for less than $10,000/year.
You do have to be willing to lose some heartbreakers, but you'll probably win sooner than you think.
There are just too many judge candidates in Illinois.
