Love Ricardo and his work and disagree that any of our work can be irreversible. I hope that what people from our current situation is that nothing is permanently won but the good thing is that nothing is permanently lost either.
I have to keep reminding myself of this. When I feel like it's hopeless, I'm trying to just settle into the thought that... even if it is, what I want to do doesn't change. I want to help ppl. I want to try to organize with them. I want to resist on principle, not because I think it'll work.
“None of us know where this is going. It's not looking good, but what do I want to spend the rest of my life doing? Being fully alive, being with other people, being in it together, taking risks, being really, really caring, learning to love people even if they annoy me. Learning deeper love.”
Thank you! Really appreciating your posts today. It’s feeling dark in a lot of corners of Bluesky today, but we can’t give up. Im a little worried some people will give up after yesterday.
I’m keeping my mantra as “if you want to live in a democracy, you have to participate at every level”
It's hard out there. I totally understand people feeling defeated. Something that has always been helpful to me is that I don't believe that politicians are the main levers of change. I think that regular people are. So that means there's always work to do & I try to do my part.
Love that! I recently heard Robert Reich say that revolutions don’t happen in the halls congress, but out in the streets with everyday people. That’s been really grounding to remember their actions aren’t the end all be all.
