This August marks 20 yrs since Hurricane Katrina. We didn’t have pet friendly shelters then.. many people & pets suffered. It’s hurts my heart to read about these fires because after 20 yrs, I remember fear, pain, & uncertainly vividly.

I just heard the lower Palisades (middle class) is gone. My sister (who lives in the canyons of Pac Pal) was hiking and saw the fire start. She ran for 30 minutes to phone in a report. She was the first to do so, it seems. They evacuated with their pets. It is horrible for animals. 😰
A former neighbor grieves for old friends. A former student prays for her alma mater (UCLA). In the 50 years I lived there, the idea of Santa Ana winds in JANUARY was inconceivable!
Price gouging is absolutely illegal in CA. ( and the rest of the US). Specifically in emergencys with items things like hotel rooms, but who will enforce it in a crisis?
