big picture, the Americas must be our top foreign policy priority if we want to address root causes of migration. and Congress must ultimately rewrite immigration and border policy to align American values and interests with desired immigration outcomes.

but in the meantime these steps make sense:

1. Reduce the level of displaced people by addressing the drivers of migration in home countries
2. More job and asylum opportunities closer to home countries
3. More legal pathways to work, join family, contribute to America’s success
4. Bring order and predictability to border and asylum system

As a nurse I have helped many trying to become legal in MI. I have been saying this for years—why cannot we not streamline the process to become legal? It is so difficult—it requires $ and many times, multiple trips over a hundred miles away. Please keep vocalizing these great ideas!
