On the heels of multiple airplane disasters, including one less than a month ago that killed 67 people, and after years of warnings about our understaffed air traffic control system, Trump has begun firing hundreds of FAA air traffic control workers.

SpaceX operates with less than 3-9's reliability (99.7% success rate). At SpaceX reliability levels we would have over 300 commercial air disasters PER DAY!

Commercial aviation operates at 8-9's safety!

My impression was that ATCs were not included (though I could be wrong), but that inspectors and others who are equally crucial to air safety were.

If several key airports shut down for safety-many/most are operated by cities with residents to protect, not just travelers- this whole thing would come to a head in hours. Nothing muskrats or even DoD can do to force an airport to function.
