I'll leave out the myriad of WW2 games given that most of those also allow you to play AS the fascists. And I'm sure others here can add to this short list!

1. Land and Freedom (2023) by @alexknight.bsky.social is set in the Spanish Civil War (1936-39); delightfully thematic semi co-op. The thing that gets me right in the feels when playing Resist! is how depressingly desperate it is. Just like the history of Franco’s dictatorship, the bad guys win (most of the time). It’s one of those games where mechanics and theme so brilliantly reflect each other.

Bloc by Bloc (originally 2016 by T L Simons) gives us a more present-day feel - play semi-cooperatively as various factions to resist an authoritarian regime. Again, not played it yet... https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/190247/bloc-by-bloc-the-insurrection-game
