I think they could use a bit more size diversity but they're fine in retrospect

Then again Nintendo and others did quickly ditch the size aspects of Miis in-game in most games after Mario Kart Wii, I can count on one hand the number of post MKW-titles with Mii sizes

There's a difference. ARMS sold well but Nintendo completely abandoned it. By the time Min min got added to Smash they weren't even promoting it anymore

By the time Min Min was added to Smash Bros., Arms had been out for three years.

Do you see it at any fighting game events? Nope.

Do you see Nintendo ever promoting it? Nope. They don't even acknowledge it.

Did it get a sequel? Nope, while Splatoon did despite not needing one.

They just discarded the IP because it didn't do Smash Bros numbers

Yeah Nintendo doesn't really do perpetual live service games. They just let the games sell themselves over time and it tends to work out. They don't "abandon" games as that implies there was more content planned that they cut. They were just done and they moved on.
