Next commenter wants parts of D2 including Hillman City exempted from the plan. "Proposed drastic upzones will completely alter the existing character," they say.
Montlake resident Harvey says he's concerned about parking. "There is ample evidence today of future parking problems," citing construction workers for a new Montlake elementary school parking on the street.
Harvey says middle housing doesn't belong on neighborhood streets, which isn't on the table.
Appreciate you reporting on this. It’s driving me nuts hearing the same old complaints over and over. Is there the political will to simply bulldoze these complaints (metaphorically) and get actual development done ?
I should let someone respond who knows Seattle better, but the 2019 missing middle bill in Oregon basically took all the zoning that was single family and made it single+missing middle zoning. Without needing to get a zoning variances, there were no meetings.
We have done a lot, but not enough. There’s just apparently no actual reasonable opponents to development. Just people complaining their world isn’t frozen in amber, an unchanging, static museum exhibit. “I’m mad the world has living people in it!” Is all they have.
Public comments are wrapping up with some commenters speaking in favor of the plan, but I'm mostly disassociating at this point, and still recovering from "gulag of hardscape," and someone from Montlake accusing the city of redlining.

I don’t understand why NIMBYs live in cities if they hate people.

Apparently Washington did this, too and this hearing is about something else.
I really appreciate the folks who do the blow-by-blows but I almost need an annotated copy of those too 😅
Jesus fucking christ, I'm sorry.
