I don't think their presumption is that their voters want Brexit. Focus groups are telling them that they regret Brexit, but that they very strongly do not want the argument reopening.

This may shift with Trump, but that's what Labour's recent research concludes.

EURef was NOT a Party Political Issue.
It was merely a binary vote.
The will of The People.
52% is a clearer mandate than any GE.

The problem with 'The Brexit' is that its terms were negotiated, solely, by the corrupt, inept, Europe-hating Tory Government.
It's no wonder, regret is mounting.

No, but he’s being advised that reigniting the Brexit debates will (a) distract from everything else Labour is trying to do and (b) annoy the majority who are fundamentally disinterested in the EU as an issue so much that Labour would lose support.

Only 2% of voters at last years election said EU membership was their main issue (in or out of it)

Only 8% that it was in their top 3!!

People might say something when asked in a poll but they don't really care that much in reality

The extremists online are irrelevant

But, by the same token, those opposed strongly to EU membership are an even smaller, unrepresentative group. The question isn’t whether EU membership would benefit the UK (most think it would) but how much a largely right wing owned media would spew misinformation into the public realm.

That would be the thing to do but the anti-EU narrative is quite embedded. That said, it is therefore miraculous that there’s a pro-rejoin polling majority. Perhaps someone needs to dig into what is driving that emotionally.

Alot of the right wing press in the UK still back wholeheartedly this ongoing farce and the right wing extremists of Reform will always shout the loudest. This has the effect I think of giving the false impression that Brexit is embedded when in fact the more moderate think that it was a mistake.

Well I doubt he would have admitted being a pro Brexiter if he indeed is one. I doubt he has strong pro EU convictions, at best he is neutral on the subject just as Cameron was.

I think you are right. We still don't really know what makes him tick,his credo as a political leader. He isn't a leader, he is more like a manager which just doesn't work in UK politics.
