I'm curious: I assume the Arm 1 vs Arm 2 is just to control for a possible confounding variable, but are there known diseases for which the side of vaccination is actually significant?

This is amazing. About 250 years after Jenner's first vaccine and we are still understanding how they work so well. I spent around 1/3 of my career funding and studying how the HAV vaccine is so effective.
