Major study: "Maintain Your #Brain" trial tested online #dementia prevention program with 6,104 Australians aged 55-77 over 3 years. Participants were randomized to either personalized intervention or control group. 🧠
The intervention included personalized online modules for:
#Physicalactivity 🏃♀️
#Nutrition /diet
#Cognitive training
#Depression / #anxiety management
Each module was tailored to individual risk factors.
Control group received basic health information only. Both groups were tracked over 3 years using sophisticated cognitive testing. #CogState, #Creyos -- these are validated, believable tools.
The cognitive testing used a global cognitive composite (GCC) score combining:
CogState tests:
Detection
Identification
One Back
One Card Learning
Additional cognitive tests from Creyos (Cambridge Brain Sciences):
Grammatical Reasoning
Paired Associates
Spatial Search
These tested 3 domains: #attention, #executivefunction & #memory
Results were significant! Intervention group showed better cognitive outcomes:
GCC z-score: +0.28 intervention vs +0.10 control
Difference: 0.18 (95% CI: 0.13-0.23, p<0.001)
The scores remained high during the intervention!
