Really enjoying the stories about congressmen getting yelled at about DOGE shit in their town halls. Not because I feel like it's necessarily going to move things in the right direction in the next election cycle or two, really. I just like stories about congressmen getting yelled at I think.

There was a funded organizing effort going on though, there was a genuine grassroots element to the tea party but the infrastructure of a populist movement was already in place to catch the spark.

An anti-populist party is going to struggle to reproduce that the same way.

yes yes I'm aware the Tea Party was an astroturfed movement whose stated complaints were just a gloss over bigotry (hence the "imagined grievances" above), but that actually makes the town hall protests and shouting *more* encouraging now, as the grievances are real, and it's happening organically.
