"Vote for the bill so that the president can refuse to spend the money you just voted for" is whole other level of saying the quiet part out loud.

Did I get this right? U.S. House of Representatives has voted 217-213 to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government. Damn it, Republicans whipped their party into line and passed it without needing any Dems to pass it. Still, 1 Democrat did vote for it: Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine. WHY?

That would require the Dems to vote in unity. Something they seem to be unable to do. 14 of them just voted yes for the Labor secretary. Yet there were enough R's who voted no that if the Dems had all voted no, the nomination would not have passed.
