True enough. But I feel he wasn't this bad earlier in his career as one of the faces of atheism. Maybe he always was, but the general transphobia of society made him feel he didn't need to say anything. Or maybe it was always there in the open and I just didn't look for it.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation has signed onto the letter. (It was their website on which Coyne's thoughtless screed was first posted.)

The Center For Inquiry, which merged with the Dawkins Foundation and has spread all kinds of anti-trans misinformation, did not sign on.

The letter says: "... Nor will we sit silently or ignore when the talking points, misinformation, and outright fabrications of anti-LGBTQ+ extremists are laundered and given a veneer of legitimacy or acceptability by those who hold themselves out as voices of reason or science."
