I honestly was not sure if I was any good at singing until my band recorded. And I am not particularly good at playing the keyboard but I do it anyway!! Never mind people have always made music purely for fun and not to perform in front of other people at all. This should be encouraged!! Argh.

My music group plays 15-20 songs at every public performance and usually only one or two are as good as we can do it. But those one or two songs feel transcendent. Practice with human beings is the only way to achieve that natural high.

I'm of the opinion we shouldn't even call the ai slop "Music." Music is a fundamentally human activity, as is art. I know this probably seems pedantic but language really matters here imo. Generative ai is fundamentally different than art, and I think we should attempt to codify that in language
