What Pistorius warns about is correct, but the largest opposition party CDU will not support it on principle.
Russians have had to simplify production because of shortages. ATM they are sending wheeled vehicles 1/3-1/2 of the weight and armour of BMP's. Suicide trucks, really.
They are not producing up to 1500 new tanks per year.
Maybe 500 new, the rest repaired/refurbished.
We may not want war, but if someone is producing so many weapons, we ought to work to ensure we can deter an attack from them in the near and mid-term.
