Small diameter bombs are the future. See, they don’t even get shot at. 3000lbs gliding bombs are a bigger so it’s a weakness. Whatever anti-air artillery the Neustrashimy has seems effective against them at least in DCS which is usually modeled pretty accurately.

The Neustrashimy’s anti-air artillery seems to be able to shoot the bigger ones down in the sim. All you have to do is use 8 500lbs laser guided bombs instead of 4 to get them all to hit. The lesson is the bigger the bomb, the easier it is to shoot down. Those Russian 3000lbs bombs have a weakness.

For low-altitude strikes I noticed while taking out the Kuznetsov that low altitude gliding bomb attacks weren’t as effective because the carrier was a bit taller than other ships. The height of the radar & anti-air artillery dramatically affects the ability to shoot at things from a longer distance

Putting the radar up high like an S-300 system would help the anti-air artillery shoot at bombs sooner. I had to saturate the Kuznetsov’s air defences with harpoons or decoys instead, then quickly go from below radar to high altitude while the radar was busy to drop my bombs. Hope this helps.

They have inertial guidance as well as GPS. The impact of jammed GPS shouldn't be so big. I'm suspicious that bad software may be relying on inconsistent GPS location info, rather than relying on (less accurate, but non-jammable) INS data.

Questionable GPS data needs to be identified & ignored.

Did you read 1 word I wrote? While I didn't suggest jamming isn't working. I'm saying a loss of GPS should cause the shell to switch to INS. If the loss of GPS is most of the way to the target, the drift during inertial navigation would be negligible.

Even if it loses GPS almost immediately after firing, its inertial navigation should provide good accuracy. INS systems do well over such short ranges as ~40km. To have large errors, I suspect requires that the shell, not just lose accurate GPS, but follow fake signals.

And that's why I say there seems to be a software error. If you have 1 navigation system (GPS) that retains accuracy over time, but can be fed spoofed data, & one that is subject to gradually degraded accuracy (drift), but can't jammed (INS), a sudden discrepancy between them indicates GPS spoofing.

It's hard to intercept something much smaller than a plane with no engine to create a heat signature. The best defense is keeping Russia's planes 100km away. A couple hundred more F-16s could help.

That looks like a pretty heavy-duty guidance kit. I guess that explains why they glide so far.

They must create a lot of drag even when folded. That may explain why so many are breaking free & in🇷🇺. Maybe🇷🇺rushed the development & used a mounting point too weak for the drag-induced torque.

i think on a two-stage drone ... first you get brought into air and into place where the bombs get dropped off, and then the rocket drops the drone off, who then comes up from the rear onto the glidebomb to explode

gives it a better angle for destruction imo
