If all voters understood the complexity and the logistics of holding regular elections in peace time we wouldn't even have a discussion of elections in war time when the country is invaded.
How on earth do you hold elections in wartime? Do the forces on the front line abandon their posts while they trot off to find a polling station? It’s bonkers. The UK didn’t hold elections in WW2 because it would be impractical to do so.
