Unfortunately, because Hell is considered a special place, it is not accessible in the base game. For an additional $4.99, you can access Hell and its additional 6 Epic Rare armor sets.
Preach. All forms of MTXs in single player games are bad and I don't believe there's a "scale" of bad to worse. I also don't care if they're "optional". I don't care if they're "only cosmetic". I don't care if they've "always been there." They shouldn't be there at all.
Are there games like that?? I don’t think I’ve actually ever played single player one that was like that- and I mostly played 1P games before online- think the most capitalist thing that bother me the most are things that lock important Info/news behi- {{Please Pay 2 Dingleberries to read further}}
Everyday, the internet keeps proving to me, I really am Lucifer’s Perfect Moron, cause I’ve hyperfixated on AC since 1 came out for a good hot min and never once noticed, until you said that, and realized “oh damn yeah, now that I think about it..”. I Need to be Studied.
I mean, half the reason they’re awful is because they’re so unobtrusive! You kind of normalise their existence because “its not like they’re shoving it down my throat”. But someone will fall for it and give Ubisoft money for basically nothing so they keep doing it 🥲
Is it terrifying that I’m used to playing games that they actually are intrusive and pop up everywhere to the point the unobtrusive ones I don’t even consider micro transactions, not that I’m phased by much of anything, I’m the type of person that likes watching YouTube/mobile game ads so.
Oh. That one I knew about, I… admittedly did not think that counted as one, and now I am realizing I think the reason I haven’t seen them, is my idea of Micro Transactions is… different than most people’s- well. 😅 to me, I imagine Micro’s as like annoying spam pop ups, like in MMO’s
WHATT?? WHERE?????????? JSBSSBSBGABZ- I LITERALLY OWN AND STILL HAVE MY BEAT TF UP 360 INFERNK- I don’t remember seeing it havsjdhehs- I’m gonna start clicking on more than just ‘Play’ ‘Load’ and ‘Settings’ some day. F$2):): Caveman brain that I have🤦♂️
I'm pretty neutral on MTX as long as it isn't play to win. Skins in games, battlepasses etc. are fine in my book, especially because a lot of these games are "free"
But agreed on MTX in SP games. No need for it but they'll continue. Bandai, Capcom etc. can be pretty bad for it. Looking at you DMC.
As much as I love Capcom and how well they’ve been doing with Resident Evil in recent years, something really rubs me the wrong way with being able to just pay to unlock the unlimited weapons and other bonuses. Especially when I’ve done them legit, not that it detracts from my personal victory.
I don’t care if they are cosmetic or additional levels, but when they intentionally make content difficult (slow, hard to earn, or just really challenging) to make you pay with coins, I hate it.
Before I download a mobile app, I always check details on in app purchases. Sale of coins makes it a no.
Define that for me. Microtransactions that give access to skins / non-essential items that people can enjoy and don't affect the game and you don't have to buy (unless you want). Or Microtransactions that are required if you want an extra feature that should have been included - I loathe these.
Brother, even cosmetic MTX affects the game. In order for a game to fit into an MTX model it requires restricting content and padding gameplay to pressure players into making purchases. There was a time when even cosmetic items were unlockable through secrets or challenges.
Me too. I'm tired of being accosted for money, I gave you money already. I don't want to see ads in game, I don't want to type my CC into an in-game browser.
The only conditions I'm okay with MTX are: the game must be free to play and the MTX shop must not use predatory tactics and dark patterns.
Fortnite has become excessively predatory. Stuffing every geek culture reference and skin into the game feels like a ploy to make players spend money. Microtransactions are fine on a small scale, but this is ridiculous. I hate how Epic gets away with that crap.
Kinda both, if the devs have made the skins and non-essential items but want to charge you on top of £70 to access them… that’s kinda shady to me.
And 100% the second one.
So you don't care if a single player game has content (cosmetics) locked behind an in-game paywall? Gross.
It used to be standard to have unlockable cosmetics through gameplay, now there is less gameplay and more mtx. I much prefer playing the game rather than paying it.
What this means is that you don't care as long as they aren't targeted at you. I fucking LOVE cosmetics, unlocking some fresh outfits is fun as hell, but I guess I just need to take out the wallet now instead?
Single player or multiplayer, mtx in any game I've already spent money on are bad
If it's not pay to win, doesn't bother me personally.
If it's a skin I really want like Master Chief in Fortnite then I'll buy it. I'm playing Fortnite for the gameplay and the good times with friends, I don't really expect anything from the battle pass/rewards to spark joy for me
The issue is that even that is a “give a mouse a cookie “ situation. If we as gamers hadn’t rationalized “just cosmetics” and hopped onto the ftp model, then we wouldn’t be in the situation we are. We made this bed, but we shouldn’t be giving these companies leeway for their horrible practices
I also don't mind having an in-game marketplace for third-party DLC. Good way to support the modding community by providing easy access to their creations and a mechanism by which they can get paid for them.
It's like if you bought a refridgerator from Lowes, and they said "Oh you wanted a compressor in your fridge? Well, that will be an extra $500. Or you could just come back to Lowes every day and walk by the fully functional fridges to pick up some free ice to keep your food cold. 🤬🤬🤬
Depends. If the item was made after the game was released, then thats fine. Ppl love cheating and mods too, while others prefer the grind. Each to their own. You dislike but others like. Forcing morals onto others is the real problem the world has rn
If I'm the only one in here, the game publisher isn't invited either. No other players, I should be *ALONE* in the game. Intrusions from the game into my experience to get me to spend money are immersion-breakers. A single player game with in-game prompts to buy stuff? REALLY? No sale. And boycott.
I wait 3 weeks and they go on sale these days unless you promoting a channel or being game news etc buying a couple weeks out can save up to 50% I'm not perfect as Google and Microsoft still got me.
You know, I thought that just as soon as I'd posted this. You're right of course. I meant it explains why AAA games have been tending towards multiplayer and ignoring singleplayer.
In an effort to change your mind, would you consider that the games are often negatively affected even with cosmetic only MTX? For example, padded play time, less in-game challenges and secrets, ads while playing, needless currencies, and dark patterns just to name a few.
DMC V did this for gems and stuff iirc. It's very predatory to newbies (who get preyed on) and insulting to vets. Nobody wins, and I doubt they're making a ton of money off of this

Cosmetic stuff in a single player £70 game can get in the bin

Paying $20+ for a skin isn't micro, it's highway robbery.
Before I download a mobile app, I always check details on in app purchases. Sale of coins makes it a no.
If they need cosmetic MTXs in a single player game to surpass their budget they shouldn't have made the game.
(Dead Space)
Which is a shame, because I’d have really loved a Dead Space 4.
If anything, I hope it doesn't get worse at this point. 😂

Complaining in social media is eternal, however

As much as I want it to die out it won't will it!
GTA6 is gonna make Rockstar a trillion or something between release and GTA7!!
Cosmetics and some minor speed ups or whatever I just dgaf any more especially given how egregious some shops have gotten...
