The Broccoli situation is a little different. They have just the film rights, I think.

They’ve actually been good stewards over the years. They’ve maintained the franchise over many decades and changes in film taste, and avoided licensing the rights for derivative works to make a quick buck.

They have, and for that reason seeing the rights transfer to an entity that will almost inevitably be a terrible steward is a bummer.

Separately, the incredible duration of copyright protection is an absolute lead weight on creative activity.
