That's awesome!! I have not read the books nor I have not watched any new or original movies either yet. But I am definitely planning to get around finally with Dune. Of course there is chance that I may have seen the original movie from 80's long long time ago with many other 80's movies but don't remember anything about anymore haha. But yeah if this is prequel then it would be very much fine for me to watch this to finally get into Dune then! 😄

The lore of Dune is very vast, and inspired many people, like George Lucas to make Star Wars. The Bene Gesserit can be seen as little inspiration for the Jedi with their Voice power the Force. As both have similar abilities on the weak minded. I'll be happy to talk about what I know of this universe

That's awesome! Thank you for telling me. Sounds cool! And yeah I might have still have access to HBO Max (I've heard that they are planning to crackdown password sharing too which sucks). I shall check what movies are there like if original is there. But I will definitely watch this prequel series!

The books get a little weird after Messiah, and it'd probably be pretty hard to make a movie or show out of them. However, the first few are great. The original movie is pretty good for what it attempted, even with its 80's flair, but some visuals like the shield fight are... ehh.

Denis's movies pay pretty good homage to the original movie and the books. They changed a little but nothing too major that ruined the story. If you have HBO MAX, the original should still be on there but for how long I don't know.
