Serine and Threonine have hydroxyls at the end of their R groups, allowing for hydrogen bonding.

Alanine is entirely a hydrocarbon R group (it's a methyl group)

Yet somehow these are both sorted as "semipolar"?

Makes very little sense.

In the scale of aa polarity stablished by Dan Urry, actually proline and Alanine have a very similar polarity. They both are consudered apilar but on the lower part of apolarity. Perhaphs that methyl group of alanine, directly linked yo the Alpha C gives a bit of polarity to that carbon.

Proline too. R is aliphatic and quite unpolar.

Proline's weird, though. Since the R group loops into the N, technically the C that connects to that N ends up very slightly positive due to the difference in electronegativities. I'd be way more willing to consider proline semipolar than alanine.
