Fun fact: in the 19th century, voters would arm their Congressmen with pisols, as violent confrontations did in fact happen. This is going back to the days of the wild west! And Canadian Parliament has a floor seperating both sides to a minimum of sword length, on outstretched arm!
I was thinking of this. When the electorate sent forth their representative, "fight for our rights", they meant it! As in, whoop their asses if you have to! We evolved into Rule of Law, but it shows you the caliber of people who were willing to defend their freedoms. Contrast this, with today
Sam Houston was a hell of a man. He lived with native Americans and at one point had a native wife. They called him the Raven. He was pissed Stanbery accused him of corruption. He fled to TN then TX after this incident.
