Ottawa's photo radar and red light cam revenues can only be used for road safety and traffic calming measures. (Ottawa Road Safety Action Plan projects).

My major complaint about photo radar all along was that it was ALWAYS about revenue generation while bullshitting it was about safety.

All gvnt revenues should go to a common $ pool in order to optimize spending.

Limiting $ to little buckets doesn't work and is prone to conflicts of interest.

Case in point: Alberta Energy Regulator.

The cops get 25cents on every tax dollar in #winnipeg making it one of the top police budgets in the country and yet crime rates keeping going up and on road injuries are increasing. Meanwhile the city loves to place photo radar on streets designed for speed& designated slower, so revenue is up
