Circumstances were different - FAR different! But I have insights that I think are worth sharing.

The emotions of it all, especially as a new mother, were INTENSE. My husband and I had this small, perfect being to care for, and our familiar, safe resources to do so were rapidly falling away.

But as often as we ran into roadblocks to replace the familiar with the new, we discovered other possible avenues - sometimes footpaths - that led to opportunities.

And life didn’t actually stop. Trips to the park, summer parades, simply sitting in the sun and breathing in the mass of curls atop my baby’s head kept me centered. And joyful - profoundly so!

In myself, I discovered the strengths that make me, ME. My ability to strategize and plan logistics surfaced and saw us through the storm of shifting circumstances.

My husband and I learned that we were an incredible team. We used our respective skills and built new ones together.

I also learned that humanity is kinder than one could ever imagine. No one in our community really had money to spare, but they had skills, and they had compassion. My daughter’s circle of Aunties and Uncles grew and grew.

Me too. I lost my house, job and my entire 401K. I was 54.

I now have my dream job, a new house and A small 401K. But mostly I have my health. Hold on tight and fight, fight, fight!
