This was years ago, but I'd guess it's feathered such that it is pointed past her to her left (if that makes sense?)
I probably haven't used the modifier much since then (it's awkward and cumbersome to use and takes a lot of space). Maybe worth pulling it out and playing with it again.
I almost always feather, often to the extreme. It gives massive control of the light on the subject and the background.
I generally have my subject just behind the back edge of the soft box, and for kickers, I point them so that they are just pointing past the subject (not directly at them).
I often explain it as if you were to imagine my lights falling over in the direction they are pointing, that they'd only just brush my subject with the edge (not flatten them).
They're all about contrast control - very much season to taste. I probably only use them about 1/2 of the time - it does depend on the modifier and the effect I want to achieve.
