True. But it's hard to overestimate how much influence Trump has on Republican politicians, especially on the state level. I wouldn't be surprised if some Republican state legislator proposes removing birth certificates as a valid voting ID saying "Trump's EO doesn't allow birth certificates either"
Yeah, but are states gonna follow it? Some will and some won’t, I’m sure. Will this further entrench red state power? Will there be any actual consequences for states that don’t follow it? Will it go to the Supreme Court? So many questions, but this is very bad.
it really doesn't matter whether states decide to follow this EO or not; the EO's mere existence will be used as a pretext to cast doubt on any elections that don't go the GOP's way.
The federal voter registration form is set by law, Congress decided what has to be on it, Trump acting unilaterally has zero power to change what information or documentation it requires.
