trimax thought: thinking abt how the ww that vash rmbrs is seen with a smile that we, the readers, never got to see on ww and how that implies vash and ww shared so many other moments outside the snaps of time that the manga showed us

imo the freebird short story does this too for ww: showcases a side of ww that could be extrapolated from his portrayal in trimax but that wasn't explicated bc the implicature was enough for his character to continue through trimax's story with
something that i rly like abt trimax is how the characters enter and exit the "camera lens" of the story and how much they feel like "people" w/their own histories and motivations coming and going. i feel like "the moments of time when the camera isn't watching" is SO fun for transformative works
and i also think it's rly fun to think abt how the "reader" can be provided w/certain impressions of characters as a result of the limited "camera eye"--for ex: "we" never see ww sleep on-screen (save for medical exhaustion); how would our impression of him have changed if we had like we have vash?
is vash's impression of him different than ours? knowing that vash has watched him sleep? maybe even have a nightmare? what abt ww's POV of vash, having watched vash sleep (and apparently sleep-talk abt rem...)
This thread is amazing and killed me dead, oh man
Nightow's character-writing is imo his top strength as a writer, the way that he gives his characters so much depth in a way that's unthinking and legitimately makes them feel real? Masterclass. It takes me out every day
agree, his character work is so strong!! and i also like seeing the way he's studied movies and such; i feel like that shows up in his framing of scenes and how he sets moods
ourgh, maybe in passing casually (or pretend-casually) after vash figured out how much family meant to ww, and maybe ww recognizing how important she must be to vash (maybe even as it makes him a little envious) and the signficance of vash telling him...
