But with how clearly prominent they wanted Harry to be in this show, I think including these peripheral characters around him could have been a lot more interesting than having Laura flashbacks that tell us what we already know, or a Brian subplot that goes nowhere.

The biggest surprise for me is that the season ends with Harry... still alive. I thought for sure they would show us his death here, one way or another, but they didn't.

Instead, they end the season like almost very season of the original: The status quo is much the same as the start of the season, with the only major difference being Dexter killed more people than he had before. To me this is the biggest indicator that they are banking on milking more seasons.

Personally I find this pretty disappointing. To me, one of Dexter's biggest flaws was that the premise just wasn't sustainable for 8 seasons. Original Sin's is barely sustainable for 1.

Maybe they're saving characters like Vogel and Matthews for that too. But at this point I just don't care.

Original Sin didn't need to exist, but if it was going to anyway, the best way to do it would have been a single season, wrapping up with Harry's death. Instead it just feels like Dexter Season 9, but Harry is there. I really don't see the point.

No idea what to expect from Dexter: Resurrection either. Seems they're really pushing hard for Dexter to be this big long-running franchise, but I just don't see it. They've already stretched the premise as thin as they can, and I don't think the fanbase is strong enough for it to go that far.
