Super Market sim sounds like such a ridiculous, mundane premise lmao. Never heard of it but it’s gotta have some value if you took the time to vouch for it. 😂
Listen. It is fully what it sounds like, but throw on some music and fling the boxes on shelves. There are just enough tasks to not make me sleepy, but not too many that I get overwhelmed.
Idk if this counts but Zenless Zone Zero? It's a pve action game, the off battle stuff is kinda cozy? Especially when the trust system unlocks it's giving persona
The obvious answers are Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and such, and they’re so correct, but please don’t sleep on Core Keeper. It’s on gamepass and it’s such a cute little relaxing game, like a more RPG-y Stardew set entirely underground. 🫶🏻
For cozy games I tend to stick to nostalgic games like bioshock infinite. But a nice chill game would be something like house flipper or any sim game. :))
Baldur's Gate 3, Civilization, Fire Emblem. Really anything turn based so I can just take my time, think about something other than life, and enjoy my night. Bonus points if you stay up way later than you should, lost in thinking about the game.
Oblivion and Skyrim have always been my comfort "home" games since forever, but recently I just can't stop just leveling through WoW whenever I just wanna relax and turn my brain off, it is so nice.
Depends on what you mean by cozy.
I find disco elysium very cozy despite it being depressing as hell. It’s so earnest and genuine i just really enjoy playing it from time to time.
It is no animal crossing i’ll tell u that much lol
I'm jrpg-oriented in case anime isn't your thing, but I find Recettear, Elona, and Atelier games very comfortable to replay even after years of not touching them.
Elona to just laugh at the dumbest things that can happen there, Recettear to just stumble through without thought, and Atelier to
I do enjoy Atelier games. I started my 4th one (Atelier Sophie 2) some months ago. Maybe it’s time to go back. It’s definitely chill playing those games. I’ll have to check out Recettear and Elona. Appreciate you sharing these.
Euro Truck Simulator 2, definitely! I just hop on Discord, chat with my friends or listen to music/podcasts and drive for a while, it's really relaxing for me
I personally love the storyline and the characters are adorable. It’s similar to stardew but instead it’s more focused on building! You move to a new town and you’re helping them grow by building. You make friends, do commissions, etc. but the story is really great for a cozy game!
I was looking at it yesterday and it looks like it has some varied gathering mechanics that look like it’ll keep it fresh. You’re really selling it to me. Might have to try it out next time it’s on sale. 😊
Adding to OP, but I was going to suggest this game! It was one of the most addictive story lines I've played in so long. I wished it were a book so I could finish it faster. It took over 120 hours for me to play the main story. The setting and character are amazing and rich and a pretty good twist!
A Short Hike. It's super short, I beat it under two hours. You could even beat it under an hour if you rush it.
But the game is so chill that I went back just to run and glide around for a few more hours.
I'll sometimes just blast through a Gen 1 Pokemon game. They're not too long and I'm very familiar with them, so I can try weird things and have a lot of fun!
Other than that, Paper Mario, Kirby 64, and Luigi's Mansion come to mind. Maybe not "cozy," but they're comfort games in their own ways.
the first Cities: Skylines, especially with a good podcast or audiobook! the satisfaction of managing traffic and designing city infrastructure is oddly charming and I always find myself going back to it
I’ve heard great things about Balatro. Might need to check it out though I don’t often stick to card games. Any Pokémon game is definitely a winner. I might need to pick up Shield again.
Balatro is better then you would think by looking at it. I considered picking it up for weeks. When I finally did I was kicking myself for not buying it day 1. I do love all the Pokémon games but modern ones are frustrating to replay, because of the long ass Intros.
Hollow Knight has been my comfort game recently. Maybe not a traditionally cozy game but it feels like there's always a glimmer of hope permeating the otherwise somber atmosphere and I just think that's nice.
FXIV is uber cozy! I love jumping in and just chilling in the cities and people watching lol. Then I’ll go do a couple gold saucer mini games, rinse and repeat.
I like Terraria. Sure combat is a big part of it but the beginning stages with just starting out and building your first little hovel to survive the night in is weirdly comforting and cozy for me. Building homes for other npcs and watching your community grow is also nice.
No Man’s Sky. I’ll land on a planet and 3 hours will go by and I realized I walked to another continent. Oh okay, so this solar system has extreme weather planets? Cool, lets warp to another system. Plant flying squid? Flying bubbles? Gigantic space dinosaur dog? It probably exist somewhere there.
For me it’s always stardew! Each time that I’ve started a new game, more and more of it clicks with me and I love it all the more for it. Though my fiancé has like 1000+ hours in it so maybe she’s rubbed off on me 😅
Never played a picross game but Celeste is an interesting choice. That game always has me clenching my cheeks because of the precision platforming. 😂 we all have our comforts though because I can always relax with Dark Souls or Elden Ring.
Oh nice! I thought that’s what I’ve been seeing in my feed in the last week or so. I started it while traveling this year but was not in the right head space to be learning while on the go. Maybe it’s time to go back. 😏
Highly recommend, it's such a fun chill game and with the new expansion I am going to be headed back to it myself next week when I get paid. The learning curve is also really easy once you get into it, the missions walk you through it perfectly.
Octopath Travelers 2. Super chill and the world is so inviting and fun. The characters are also so lovable and goofy and the combat is fun and easy to learn. Definitely my go to decompress game
One cozy game that has been topping my list recently is core keeper. My Girlfriend and I have been calmly enjoying it since early access and came back to play it again because it officially released patch 1.0. It is so enjoyable, if y’all haven’t played it, I’d recommend.

We've also hidden a few cats in there!
Dredge
-Replaying any Pokemon game
Cute, easy, fun, a rpg where you play as a cat fighting dragons
My easy choice to play everytime I don't want to play anything
Also love KORAL too, diving in the ocean and cleaning it solving puzzles 👌🏻
Also Celeste!
